I'm cataloguing the library here as my busy-work (stuff to do when I have nothing else). I opened a book today to find this Keynes quote: Words ought to be a little wild, for they are an assault of thoughts upon the unthinking.

I don't think this is true, but it's an interesting thought. Words can be wild, but that doesn't mean that they are part of a battle of some kind.. I prefer to think of them as butterflies or hummingbirds set loose in a huge and ever-changing ecosystem. Words come together to present ideas, which survive or die depending as often on circumstance as on the strength of the idea or the words used. Bah! Why do boys (gross generalization!) like to frame things in terms of Big Battles, with Winners and Losers!? We exist in networks, not hierarchies.
