Hey [livejournal.com profile] vcooke! Here's the recipe I promised you!

Vegetarian gravy

1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cold water
1 1/2 cups boiling water (or veggie boiling water)
1/4 tsp each rosemary, thyme, sage
1 bay leaf
1 tsp garlic powder

EITHER
1 Tbsp dark miso
1 Tbsp soy sauce

OR
2 tsp nutritional yeast
2 tsp vegetarian chicken-style seasoning

Put flour and cold water in a jar. Put a lid on the jar and shake until smooth liquid is formed. In small saucepan, make broth with boiling water and all other ingredients. Stir in flour mixture. Cook, stirring, 2-3 minutes over medium heat until mixture thickens.

Variation: For a mushroom or onion gravy, saute 1/2 cup of finely chopped onions or mushrooms (or both!) in oil. Add to broth, and proceed as directed above.
